Standards and Stats

Standards

There are sets of swimming standards that are important for Nova Scotia and Canadian winter competitors. These are:

  1. East Coast Standards. These apply to swimmers who wish to compete at the annual long course and short course East Coast Champs.
  2. National Standards. These apply to swimmers who wish to compete at the annual National Champs.

 Statistics

1. International

FINA, the organization that operates world swimming has an interesting website that contains all sorts of interesting information. Members of the club who are interested should visit there to see what is happening internationally on the competitive swimming calendar – see http://www.fina.org. The FINA site also carries a live video stream of all World cup events so you can watch the best swimmers in the world competing in real time.

World Cup Championships statistics and World records can be looked at by downloading the document that shows how times have progressed since the mid 1970s (World Championship Statistics).
