Welcome to Dartmouth Manta Rays Swimming Club
Welcome to another season of competitive swimming with the Manta Rays.
We had an incredible season last year and all indications are that it will continue this year. The Manta Rays are off to a good start this year due in no small part to the tireless work of some of the executive and parents over the summer break. Your hard work has given us a stronger foundation and renewed strength to make the club even better than it was before. So on behalf of the Club I would like thank you all for your commitment and time to the club.
We have some new faces on the Executive this season and we are all excited about moving the club in a positive direction. Dan has done a great job with our new Website, and all he needs now is for us to put in some content. The club has seen a number of changes this year one being a new Coach, Kala Hirtle. Kala comes to the Manta Rays with a great resume. She was a former summer coach of the year and has also coached at Dalhousie. As you will all notice, she is very organized and if the early progress of the swimmers is any indication of things to come, I think we are in for a fantastic season. We also have returning coaches Alicia and Charlene, who should be very proud of the accomplishments their young swimmers have made and will continue to make over the season. Great job girls.
We would like to welcome the Colby Sailfish to the club this year; some of the Sailfish are swimming winter maintenance with us and are a welcome addition to the club.
The Manta Rays would like to congratulate Colin Liebold on making the Dalhousie Varsity swim team. During Colin’s time with the Manta Rays he was a role model and leader for all of our swimmers, we wish him all the success he so deserves. We would also like to recognize Laura Beck who earned an Olympic Trial with all of her hard work while swimming with the Manta Rays. Good luck in the future to both Colin and Laura.
The Executive are going to make every effort to make this season a great one for everyone , and one of the ways we are going to accomplish this is with open communication. We will be having parents meetings and executive meetings once a month. We would appreciate your attendance if possible, if for some reason you cannot attend and have concerns please speak to one of the members on the executive or email me directly so we can address it as soon as possible. The Manta Rays are only as good as its membership so we invite you all to become involved whether it is participating in the team building events or timing at the swim meets. Your participation is what makes the Manta Rays the incredible club that it is.
